CFIT phase 2 planning in Ethiopia

Adama, Ethiopia

On July 14th, 15th and 16th 2016, in Adama, Ethiopia, heads from the Education Faculty of Bahir Dar University, Hawassa College for Teacher Education, and the Ministry of Education (MoE) met with the support of UNESCO-IICBA, represented by Mr. Solomon Andargie, Project Officer, Mr. Omar Diop, Specialist in Education, and by Mrs. Isabelle de Geuser, to proceed in the planning of the UNESCO-CFIT program phase 2.

According to the MoE objective to improve teaching quality through training teachers and teacher educators, the program builds capacities of teacher training institutions via the development of several tools, such as training modules, the support of teacher educators and the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the training. After the successful implementation of phase 1 of the CFIT program, a second phase in Ethiopia has been proposed by the IICBA team and other stakeholders, including the MoE.

A review of the first phase of the program structured the framework of the second phase of the project. To maintain continuity, both Teacher Training Institutes have been invited to share their new objectives, expected results and planned activities. Group work activities during the training allowed the participants to produce a log frame and a work plan of the program. A final production of the project CFIT 2017-2018 planning is expected at the end of the exercise.
