IICBA Participated at the Planning Meeting of the AUC’s CESA-ICT in Education Cluster

The African Union Commission (AUC) has launched its CESA-ICT (Continental Education Strategy for Africa-ICT) in the Education Cluster and IICBA is one of the members of this Cluster. The Cluster organized its first planning meeting in Nairobi, Kenya on November 10th-11th, 2016. IICBA was represented by Dr. Temechegn Engida, who also made a presentation on IICBA’s past, present and future activities on ICT in Teacher Development.

 The meeting was intended to provide opportunities to communicate about the Continental Education  Strategy for Africa as well as partners’ continental and national initiatives and programs. The meeting  was also a networking platform among key stakeholders (public, private and civil society) in this realm  to share knowledge and to build collaborative partnerships to promote scalable models and initiatives to  accelerate relevant and effective ICT integration in African education and training systems. The ultimate  goal was to improve the quality of teaching and learning as well as providing learning opportunities to all  Africans.

 The meeting achieved, as intended, the following expected outcomes:
 ·  Shared knowledge about member organization’s programs across Africa 
 ·   Shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities in ICT in Education in Africa 
 ·   Agreement on Terms of Reference for the Cluster 
 ·    Identification of activities for 2017/2018
