The Third International Conference on Safe Schools hosted by the government of Spain will discuss the Safe School Declaration, its challenges and lessons learned, and will consolidate examples of good practice in its implementation at the national, regional, and international levels.
The 2019 Conference will offer a forum to share experiences, raise awareness, and increase the visibility of the Safe Schools Declaration and the Guidelines. Furthermore, it will be an occasion to encourage future cooperation and deeper gender responsive implementation of the Declaration and the Guidelines.
On this occasion, UNESCO as the UN agency with a mandate in higher education is appealing to all countries to protect education at all levels, including higher education, from attack during armed conflict. It is by protecting all levels of education that we will reach SDG4.
The Third International Conference on Safe Schools will define the next steps for attaining universal endorsement and effective implementation of the Declaration and Guidelines.
