Seventh session of the Conference of Parties

The seventh session of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions will meet in Paris to examine the state of implementation of the 2005 Convention and discuss how this contributes to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. It will also take important decisions on the future activities of the Intergovernmental Committee for the 2020-2021 period and elect 12 new members to the IGC. It will be preceded by the 2nd edition of the Civil Society Forum to the 2005 Convention.
145 countries and the European Union will also examine an Open Roadmap designed to strengthen the Parties’ capacities to promote the diversity of cultural expressions in the digital age and examine innovative policy practices.
The Parties will approve revised guidelines on “Information Sharing and Transparency” and review the new quadrennial periodic reports of the Parties to the Convention, as well as the report on the state of the International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD). The Parties will discuss the recommendations of the open-ended Working Group on Governance, Procedures and Working Methods of UNESCO’s Governing Bodies.
