UNESCO’s climate change actions towards COP21 and beyond

The 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to be held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December 2015, aims at reaching a universal, legally binding agreement that will enable us to combat climate change effectively and to keep the rise in global temperature below two degrees Celsius by boosting the transition towards resilient, low-carbon societies and economies. UNESCO cooperates closely with the overall UN system in support of the Parties and the Secretariat of the UNFCCC in these efforts.

UNESCO is organizing and hosting a large number of events and initiatives leading up to and during COP21, several in cooperation with France as the host country of COP21.
