UNESCO-Sharjah Prize : Round Table on "Different perspectives on the role of comics"

In the context of the award ceremony of the 16th Edition of the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture, a round table on the theme “Different perspectives on the role of comics and their part in promoting intergenerational and intercultural dialogue” will be organized at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, le 13 juin 2019 (Room IV - 3 to 5 p.m.).

Artists from Africa, Arab States, Asia and Latin America will debate on the following issues in relation to comics:
- Political and social issues
- Educational issues
- Gender and intergenerational issues
- Cultural and social issues

The round table will be followed by the award ceremony and a concert.

Created in 1998 at the initiative of the United Arab Emirates, the UNESCO-Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture rewards each year, two individuals organizations, one from the Arab world and the other from a non-Arab country, who have made a significant contribution towards the development, dissemination and promotion of Arab culture in the world. The Prize carries a monetary value of $60,000, equally divided between the two laureates.
