UNESCO International workshop on intellectual property rights and Creative Commons open licenses, and an expert meeting on use and creation of open educational resources.

The international workshop on intellectual property rights (IPR) and Creative Commons (CC) licenses was held in the UNESCO IITE jointly with the UNESCO Moscow Office and the Institute of the Information Society on December 6, 2011.

The goal of the meeting was to discuss the legal aspects of CC licenses application in the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Russian version of UNESCO ICT-CFT

1 December 2011

The official launching of Russian version of UNESCO ICT-CFT took place 1 December 2011 in Baku during IITE Conference "Teacher Competencies in Knowledge Society: Policy, Pedagogy, Social Skills".

The ICT Competency Framework for Teachers is aimed at helping countries to develop comprehensive national teacher ICT competency policies and standards, and should be seen as an important component of an overall ICT in Education Master Plan. Read more The Russian version of UNESCO ICT-CFT

An International Conference “Teacher Competencies in Knowledge Society: Policy, Pedagogy, Social Skills” was held on 1-2 December 2011 in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan. The event will be organized jointly by the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The main purpose of the Conference is to provide a space for reflection on strategies, trends and practices of teacher professional development on the basis of competency based approach with application of different models of Knowledge Society key competencies.  Read more An International Conference “Teacher Competencies in Knowledge Society: Policy, Pedagogy, Social Skills” 

Establishment of IT center for persons with visual impairments in Yerevan

IT center for persons with visual impairments was established in Yerevan, the Republic of Armenia, within the partnership project of IITE and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The main purpose of this project is promoting inclusive policies and creation of accessible information and education environment by means of ICTs for visually impaired persons. 12th session of the IITE Governing Board

The 12th Session of the IITE Governing Board was held in Moscow from 15 to 16 November 2011. The Governing Board welcomed its newly appointed members – Prof. Donald G. The Partner’s Meeting 2011

Global partnership in the sphere of ICT use in education is one of the IITE priorities. The Institute cooperates with leading universities, international professional associations, non-governmental organizations and private IT-companies. During the meeting, the partnership agreements between UNESCO IITE and IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing), Microsoft, Cisco Systems were signed. The company DYMO Mimio has donated to the Institute the equipment for training activities of the IITE. 

The partnership between UNESCO IITE and its key partners opened a new phase of their collaborative work on identifying new ways to tackle issues of ICT use in education and innovative educational technology development and implementation.  Read more The Partner’s Meeting 2011

IITE at the 36th General Conference

On 2 November 2011, the Report by the Governing Board of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) on the Institute’s activities for 2010-2011 was presented at the Education Commission Session of the 36th General Conference. The 36th session of UNESCO’s General Conference

UNESCO’s General Conference, which meets every two years, is holding its 36th session from 25 October to 10 November at the Organization’s Headquarters in Paris. Delegations from 193 Member States, Associate Members, as well as observers for non-Member States, intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are attending the session. The General Conference will decide on UNESCO’s proposed programme and budget for the 2012-2013 biennium, which gives priority to sustainable development, culture of peace and non-violence, with a special emphasis on gender equality, Africa, youth, Education for All (EFA), Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) and the most vulnerable segments of society.
