“Cultural Diversity: Building Bridges to Lasting Peace”

From 6 to 10 September 2011, UNESCO Director-General visited the Russian Federation for participation in the Yaroslavl Global Policy Forum and meeting with President Dmitry Medvedev.

The Yaroslavl Forum brought together renowned public figures from across the world, including former Heads of States, Ministers, Nobel Prize laureates and scholars, to explore the theme of “Modern State in an Age of Social Diversity.”

At the forum, Irina Bokova delivered a clear message that cultural diversity and cultural literacy are vital for building healthy societies and stable states. “Cultural Diversity: Building Bridges to Lasting Peace” was the theme of her address. The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) organized a two-day International Conference “ICTs and Quality of Education: UNESCO ASPnet On the Way Towards a School of the Future” for 50 participants, including CIS and Baltic countries, UNESCO ASPnet national coordinators and representatives of the UNESCO ASPnet schools as well as regional ASPnet coordinators of the Russian Federation.
