Buddhist paintings of ancient Japan

On 8 March I960,  Vittorino Veronese, Director-General of UNESCO, launched the world appeal inaugurating the International Campaign for the Preservation of the Monuments of Nubia. Several articles of this issue are dedicated to this exceptional moment in the history of human solidarity, including the address delivered by André Malraux, French Minister of State for Cultural Affairs: "The action of a man who snatches something from death." In June 1959, Unesco organized an International Conference on Information Processing, attended by 2,000 experts from 37 countries.
