Beijing Strengthened City-to-City Cooperation at Creative 2030 Summit

From 22 to 24 September, Beijing, China, a UNESCO Creative City of Design, organized the Creative 2030 Summit in the framework of its Design Week.

As the core event of this year’s Beijing Design Week, which is one of the main gatherings dedicated to design sector in China and even in Asia, the Creative 2030 Summit enabled to discuss a series of interdisciplinary international topics under the theme of “the Power of Creativity: City – Connecting the Past to the Future”. With the support of the International Center for Creativity and Sustainable Development (ICCSD) and in the framework of Beijing Creative City of Design, this summit aimed to strengthen international cooperation between cities that put forward both local and international initiatives on urban’s past and future, as well as ways to develop cities through creativity-oriented strategies.

Together they shared their views on how to use creativity to bridge the past, present and future of cities. They also discussed key themes such as the sustainable development of heritage in cities, reinvigoration of communities, and cities in the post-industrial era. No less than twelve other Creative Cities of different fields participated to the summit, namely Detroit (USA), Helsinki (Finland), Jingdezhen (China), Linz (Austria), Melbourne (Australia), Montréal (Canada), Santos (Brazil), Shenzhen (China), Shunde (China), Suzhou (China), Sydney (Australia) and Tel Aviv-Yafo (Israel).
