UNESCO launches a CD-ROM of its resources on sexuality education

This CD-Rom contains the key resources developed by UNESCO’s programme on sexuality education: International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education: An evidence-informed approach for schools, teachers and health, published in December 2009 by UNESCO in partnership with UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO, and available in multiple languages: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese and Russian.

Included on the CD-Rom are also related documents:

• A Review of Sex, Relationships and HIV Education in Schools commissioned by UNESCO in 2008 to inform the development of the International Technical Guidance;

• The Historic declaration pledging to provide comprehensive sex education as part of the school curriculum in Latin America and the Caribbean;

Levers of Success, a series of case studies on the implementation of national sexuality education programmes;

• A bibliography of teaching materials developed to accompany the International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education, and intended to serve as a practical reference for curriculum developers, programme planners, school principals and teachers; and

• Suggested web links for additional resources.

The programme on sexuality education is designed to support the implementation of the UNESCO strategy on HIV and AIDS and fulfil UNESCO’s lead technical role on HIV prevention for young people in educational institutions, in accordance with the UNAIDS division of labour.
