LA ORGANIZACIÓN

On 26 July 2010, UNESCO and the Islamic Development Bank sign an agreement for USD 1 million in support of Higher Education Science Faculties in the Gaza Strip.

The project supports the delivery of quality academic learning opportunities through experiential science education in the Gaza Strip, with a view to promoting the overall recovery of the territory.

Activities are focused in two mutually reinforcing areas;

• The provision of science equipment and other learning materials for the faculty of sciences in two universities that have been significantly damaged during the recent conflict.
• Capacity building skills training in order to maximize the impact of the material support and ensure sustainability for future developmental activities.

This partnership consolidates current UNESCO’s education programming in Gaza, and specifically, its ongoing support to the Higher Education sub sector through scholarships and grants, capacity building of university faculty, facilitation of exchange visits, research, support to professional conferences and continued technical support.
