Future of creativity in Mongolia - multi-stakeholder consultation meeting

Background information

Ratified by Mongolia in 2007, the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions recognizes the sovereign right of States to formulate and implement policies and measures that support the emerging cultural and creative sectors. It also ensures that this process is completed though informed, participatory and transparent processes. To achieve this, Mongolia as a signatory of this Convention 1) collects and shares information and data and 2) identifies achievements and challenges on policies and measures that can protect and promote the diversity of cultural expressions. This reporting process, referred to as Quadrennial Periodic Reporting goes well beyond a technical exercise; it is designed to support innovative, forward-looking and evidence-based cultural policymaking through multi‐stakeholder dialogues between government and civil society. Mongolia has so far submitted its QPR in 2012 and 2016.
