The video captures the main features of the "Welcoming Cities for Refugees: Promoting Inclusion and Protecting Rights" initiative launched by UNESCO in May 2016 with the M. V. Vardinoyannis Foundation and the European Coalition of Cities against Racism (ECCAR).

The initiative aims at empowering city administrations to apply a welcoming urban governance, including the inclusion and the enjoyment of human rights by refugees and migrants.

Within this context, partners have organized advocacy events, conducted research on trends, challenges and approaches, including the publication "Cities Welcoming Refugees and Migrants" (http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0024...) and an operational handbook to assist local governments and other concerned stakeholders in the development of policies and programmes.
