UNESCO and CANADEM sign a Stand-by Agreement

In June 2010 UNESCO and CANADEM (Canada’s Civil Reserve),
a non-profit agency dedicated to advancing international peace and security through the recruitment, screening, promotion and rapid mobilization of Canadian expertise, signed a stand-by agreement which would enable UNESCO to draw on a large roster of experts to be rapidly deployed to UNESCO to support Post-Conflict Post-Disaster response.

CANADEM becomes the second significant stand-by partner to UNESCO, the Norwegian Refugee Council being the major long-standing and active partner in this field.

The Stand-by Partnerships are a key element of UNESCO’s sustained efforts to strengthen its response capacity in PCPD situations.
