Screening of the film "The Mercy of the Jungle"

As part of the 7th session of the Conference of Parties (4-7 June 2019), UNESCO is organizing a screening of the film The Mercy of the Jungle.

Directed by Rwandan Joël Karekezi, The Mercy of the Jungle is set in 1998 during the second Congo war. The film tells the story of two Rwandan soldiers who are separated from their battalion in the Kivu region, on the border between Congo and Rwanda, and find themselves isolated in the densest and most hostile jungle on the continent.

The Mercy of the Jungle won two prizes at the 26th FESPACO Pan-African Film Festival in Ouagadougou in 2019: the Yennenga Étalon d’Or and the Best Actor Award for Marc Zinga.
