UNESCO established an Inter-Agency Group on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (IAG-TVET) in 2008 to promote knowledge-sharing and a common understanding of key matters on TVET and to ensure effective coordination of activities by international organizations involved in policy advice, programmes and research.
Group members support countries in improving their productivity, sustainable development and employment opportunities and in designing and implementing effective TVET policies.
IAG-TVET assembles Working Groups to advance on subjects such as:
- Proposing indicators for monitoring TVET;
- Avoiding skills mismatch by mapping effective policy measures;
- Promoting initiatives for greening TVET including good practices and expertise;
- Promoting Work-based Learning (WBL).
Members
The members of IAG-TVET consist of: the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); the International Labour Organization (ILO); the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD); the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO); the World Health Organization (WHO); the World Bank (WB).
Regionally-based members include: the African Development Bank Group (AfDB); the Asian Development Bank (ADB); the European Commission (EC); the European Training Foundation (ETF); the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop); the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
