Working with Development Partners to Promote Freedom of Expression
As the United Nations agency with a specific mandate to promote “the free flow of ideas by word and image”, UNESCO works to foster free, independent and pluralistic media in print, broadcast and online. Voluntary contributions in support of freedom of expression have allowed UNESCO to achieve a greater impact through activities at the national, regional and global level, particularly in conflict and post-conflict situations and countries in transition.
