Partnerships and support

The scale and ambition of the Global Education 2030 Agenda requires global and regional coordination mechanisms, and strong partnerships.

The Education 2030 Framework for Action provides Member States and partners with actionable strategies to implement the agenda.

At the global level, the main mechanisms for Education 2030 coordination and partnerships include:

UNESCO convenes the SDG-Education 2030 Steering Committee - a democratic, multi-stakeholder partnership which provides both a forum for discussion and a key structure for coordinating global education efforts. The mandate of the Steering Committee is to provide strategic guidance to Member States and the education community, make recommendations for catalytic action, advocate for adequate financing, and monitor progress toward Education 2030 targets through UNESCO's Institute for Statistics and the Global Educational Monitoring (GEM) Report.

Regional mechanisms for coordination and partnerships play a key role in ensuring harmonization of efforts, as well as a two-way communication between global and national levels.

Multi-stakeholder partnerships are a critical modality through which to scale up innovation, resources and action to deliver the SDGs. They span a wide and diverse array of institutional arrangements for expanding collaboration and cooperation between government, business, civil society, UN and other multilateral agencies to address development challenges. These partnerships have become an increasingly important element of the international development architecture.
