Miguel Luengo-Oroz

Chief Data Scientist, UN Global Pulse

Dr. Miguel Luengo-Oroz is the Chief Data Scientist at UN Global Pulse.

As the first data scientist at the United Nations, Miguel pioneered the use of big data and artificial intelligence for sustainable development and humanitarian action. He leads the Global Pulse labs research and innovation efforts and is part of the Global Pulse senior management team. Miguel has been a member of the expert group advising the government of Spain on AI strategy. He is the founder of the social innovation platforms Malariaspot.org and Spotlab, and is affiliated with the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid.

He holds a PhD and MSc.Eng from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid and an MSc from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales de Paris.
