I recall singing this with my bunkmates at summer camp during a Memorial Shabbat nearly 40 years ago. The lyrics and tune have never left me, and are a permanent reminder of the resilience of spirit and beauty amid the horror.

Perhaps the most sorrowful verses I've read in my life - "the sun's tears". What is the horrible ordeal Pavel went through to see nothing but tears coming down from the Sun. My heart is bleeding.
