Ardent County supporter Ron Jones who survived Auschwitz as a prisoner of war and later became the country’s oldest poppy seller died this morning, aged 102.

Ron Jones BEM, Britain's oldest Poppy seller, has sadly passed away aged 102.
Ron collected for the Poppy Appeal every year for more than 30 years in Newport, Wales.
Ron served in the Welsh Regiment during WW2 and is a survivor of Auschwitz.

10 September 1942 | Franciszek Doszek (camp. no. 18271) who had escaped #Auschwitz on 28 March 1942, was captured and placed in the camp prisoner, the bunker of Block 11.

9 September 1943 | A transport of 987 Jews deported from #Westerbork in the occupied Netherlands arrived at #Auschwitz. It included 170 children & 215 people over 50. SS doctors during the selection sent 187 men & 105 women to the camp. 695 people were murdered in a gas chamber.

IWAN REBAŁKA was born on February 6, 1925, to Nastasja and, his father, Maksym Rybałka. According to documents recovered from KL Auschwitz, Iwan belonged to the Greek Orthodox Church and was a milkman by trade when he was arrested in Bielowody.

We are saddened that the world has lost another Mengele Twin. Stephanie (Heilbrunn) Heller and her sister Annetta (Heilbrunn) Able were born in Yugoslavia and raised in Prague.
