Never underestimate the power of an apology to your child or student. Not only are you modeling accountability & respect in a tangible way, but you are also acknowledging that you value their opinion & need to earn their trust after you've made a mistake.

We need to teach children that they are allowed to react emotionally in a different way than someone else who has a similar experience. There is no right or wrong way to feel about something. Encourage kids to express their feelings and acknowledge other's emotions everyday.

This type of action reflects that which my PD partner refers to not as a "soft skill" but as a "power skill." Academics are important skills for making a living, but these "power skills" are important to make our lives worth living.

Last night I had a young parent ask me what they need to do to prepare their son for school. Without thinking my reply was love and support them. We can't educate students if they are not loved.❤️What are your thoughts?

So simple yet powerful! It’s not just butterflies and kittens (unless those are among the things for which you’re grateful), but actually retraining your brain with gratitude! Who’s ready to try this for 21 days? 🦋🐈

This week 1st grade learned about Social Awareness. We read “The Invisible Boy” and students reflected on a time that they felt invisible and how to help/recognize others when they feel excluded, alone or different.

We must remember: Trauma effects our students but it also impacts our educators. Leaders can’t forget about them and taking care of their needs as they work to support but also to take care of your own as the leader impacted too

When you keep criticizing your kids they don't stop loving you, they stop loving themselves.
