The student you see every morning in the hall who you say ‘good morning’ to but yet never looks up or responds. Keep trying... you may never get a response, but they know you notice them & that reassurance at the start of their day can be life changing.

You’ll hear me say this again and again, but it’s worth repeating. Focus less on classroom rules and more on creating engaging lessons for your students. The best defense against classroom management problems is an engaging lesson!

It seems like every school I’ve been at has talked about the low attendance numbers at P-T Conferences. What are some things your schools do to increase attendance, build connections, or get parents more involved with the school?

The best way to cut back on behavior problems due to kids messing around: get kids active and engaged. If you get kids involved throughout the entire class, there isn’t time for them to be off task.

I’d like to see an educational system where students are encouraged to compare themselves to their own growth and progress and not to the growth and progress of others. We all have a different starting place and we all travel at different speeds.

There's a "Goldilocks effect" with stories. Audio only = too cold. Animated = too hot. Illustrated book = just right. Researchers saw increased connectivity between — and among — all the relevant brain networks

I personally know many amazing teachers who have left or are leaving the profession. Let’s remember that giving the exceptional teachers added tasks certainly doesn’t help with their stress.

Schools are criminally underfunded. Many teachers returned to classrooms without books & resources and to students in need of supplies. Support teachers as they often use their own money to buy supplies. 🙏🏿 Teachers drop your wishlist 🙌🏾
