Lovely pictures, Taylor. Question: Do your children always wear name tags as part of their normal daily routine? Or were they at an event that warranted such?

Kids need consequences. This is different than punishments. A consequence is when students are held accountable for repairing harm, is logical & relates to the offense, and builds empathy. Punishments build fear or indifference & don't teach empathy.

I’d like to see an educational system where students are encouraged to compare themselves to their own growth and progress and not to the growth and progress of others. We all have a different starting place and we all travel at different speeds.

The crushing weight of student debt isn’t worth it if you don’t have a clear idea of what you want to do for work. There’s nothing wrong with waiting a while and making a bit of money while you wait.

Choose your battles wisely. If you're always fighting so you can be right, you are leaving an emotional wake that is destroying others on your crusade.

We have an open Google Form for students to leave positive comments about their teachers. Overwhelmingly, the comments almost always center around how the went above & beyond to get to know them & showed support in their moments of struggle.

‘If I enter your classroom in pain, you won’t heal my pain with superior curriculum instruction.’ This is why taking the time to check in & get on level with our students is so important. via

🦅 TAKEOFF- closeup. This is a rare clip where the 🦅eagle almost flies directly into the camera. Observe the graceful wing motion and the fish in the talons. Cornelia Marie in the background. Enjoy... (VID by Sasse Photo on FB, Sept 1, 2019)

What distinguishes the most successful people isn’t their intelligence or talent; it’s their focus. They have developed the discipline to find and focus on what matters and ignore the noise and distractions.

Kindness isn’t weak. It takes courage to show kindness. It takes strength. It takes effort. It takes practice. It takes setting aside what’s easy for what’s valuable. Be kind...always.
