La Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible – EDS, ha sido reconocida como un elemento integral de la educación de calidad y un facilitador clave para el desarrollo sostenible. Como continuación oficial del Decenio de las Naciones Unidas de la Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible, el Programa de Acción Mundial de la Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible, fue establecido por un periodo de 5 años (2015-2019) con el propósito de ampliar las acciones en favor de la EDS a nivel mundial.
