Paducah Arts Alliance Welcomes Artists-in-Residence from Jingdezhen

Paducah Arts Alliance Welcomes Artists-in-Residence from Jingdezhen

When:
Fri, 03/15/2019 to Fri, 03/22/2019

When Paducah ceramist and arts educator Mitch Kimball participated in the Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen in 2018, he sought to make connections. This networking and representation of Paducah led to a mutual exchange when Paducah Arts Alliance welcomed father/son duo Ma Xinkai and Ma Mingkui for a two-week Artists-in-Residence Programme in Paducah, USA. While in Paducah, the artists collaborated with local ceramists and craft brewers, attended business and cultural events and engaged with educators and students visiting from Taylor High School, UNESCO Associated School in Cleves, Ohio, USA. Paducah Beer Werks welcomed Xinkai and Mingkui, owners and operators of Jingdezhen’s Southern Sloth microbrewery, to learn, share and craft an “East Meets West” beer together. The pale ale flavored with black tea from China is set to release in April.
