This toolkit shares the experiences of a project on sexuality and life skills led by the International HIV/AIDS Alliance started in 2003. The toolkit is based on a number of workshops and discussions with teachers and students. Lack of investments in human capital and adverse conditions during childhood are often associated with lower living standards in the future. This report aims to review, analyze, and document the situation of children affected by HIV/AIDS in low prevalence and concentrated epidemic settings related to health, nutrition, education, protection, placement, psychosocial and cognitive development as well as socioeconomic status and experiences with HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination; and formulate and prioritize practical recommendations to strengthen the evidence base for programming on affected children.
