Inclusive Education
UNESCO
Adopting the values of inclusive education can transform education systems, enable gender equality and ensure no one is left without, or behind. Making inclusive education a reality requires the full participation of learners, families, school leaders, teachers, and communities. Beyond supporting Member States in their efforts to ensure gender equality at the policy level, UNESCO Doha also works with schools in the Gulf to adapt curricula and teaching practices to mainstream gender and meet the diverse needs of students, including children with disabilities and other vulnerable populations.
The UNESCO Doha Office also emphasises the promotion and exchange of key resources in Arabic related to legislation, policies, and practice that support inclusion in education. Increasing the number and availability of quality Arabic resources on inclusive education will encourage dialogue among education stakeholders in the Gulf region and contributes to the global resource base on inclusion and equity currently under development by UNESCO Headquarters. This initiative will serve as a unique contribution to the 2019 Forum on Inclusion that will be held in June 2019 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Salamanca Conference.
