UNESCO

The UNESCO Office in Doha advocates for stronger TVET education systems in the Gulf to enhance the life skills of individuals, improve learning outcomes, and provide adequately skilled labour market forces to changing local economies. Implemented within the framework of SDG 4 and in close coordination with local TVET institutions and relevant stakeholders, the Education Team’s activities include consulting with teachers and education authorities to facilitate knowledge-sharing and learning among Member States; providing recommendations to GCC States and organisations about how to tackle the challenges of TVET through collaboration and the uptake of 21st century skills and technologies; and training teachers in skills development strategies to mainstream gender equality in TVET.

At the school level, UNESCO Doha delivers training and orientation sessions on entrepreneurship education and “Green TVET” in secondary schools, and continues to build on its relationships with curriculum specialists, education supervisors, and principals, to open up pathways for learners between school and TVET institutions.
