Criança Esperança: 30 anos, 30 histórias; há 30 anos ativando a esperança

© UNESCO/TV Globo

This is a book of life stories. It brings testimonies of 30 people that have singular life stories that have had opportunities to rewrite their destinies and to go beyond the most optimistic initial plans. Many of these people have embraced projects in the areas of music, dance, education, health or income generation. Thus, they have dodged statistics and interrupted the poverty and violence cycle, which surround the families that live in vulnerable communities, slums and favelas in many parts of Brazil.

From 1986 to 2015, there were 5 thousand social projects that benefited over 4 million people.  The initial challenge of this book was to select, among this vast universe, stories that were able to picture the diversity of projects and the regional peculiarities of the country, as well as the way to tell the story of Brazilians who daily risk themselves in the reinvention of their own context.

Rio de Janeiro: TV Globo, 2015.
