2- A Refugee isn’t any human’s sole identity. A Refugee is a status not an identity, a Refugee is a father, mother, son, daughter, builder, doctor, teacher, engineer, professor, baker, driver, educator, nurse etc.

3- Try and look beyond the term Refugee and look for the human experience behind it. An experience of resilience, resistance and determination despite all the odds and hardships. It’s not an easy experience and you end up meeting wonderful people along the way.

I often tell people this: “I am on the board of a non-profit that seeks to help people from Syria and Iraq who have sought refuge in the United States.” To me it creates more of the image of “why”. It makes people look at the “before” story.

And exactly for that reason let's stop mixing up refugees and migrants. It's ultimately refugees who absolutely need help & didn't chose to leave their homes who pay the price for it. It's egoistic to put refugees in even deeper calamities.
-
In our research we prefer -'refugees and other migrants', because migrants fleeing from poverty or following their dreams should not be reframed as 'undeserving' of their human dignity. Border controls operations, fight against migrant smuggling, etc. are affecting both groups.
-
Indeed, but it's not the same thing & refugees have priority.
-
Well, refugees are particular category of a broader category of 'migrants' (persons who reside outside their country of origin for more than 3 months) that is subject to Geneva Convention and towards whom countries have specific legal obligations - to accept and protect refugees.
-
My point entirely.

Most refugees lie to get in the US it is taught before entering what you need to say.
-
Who told you that? You have no idea what you are talking about. Just look at where most refugees in the UScome from - the horrible things they are escaping are well documented
-
Wow are you naive! Poor is not a reason. All central Americans know the drill. They do not show up for their hearings either but I am sure you ignore that too!
