Marian Burchardt, Max Planck Institute (Göttingen)

Marian Burchardt is a sociologist and postdoctoral research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen. His research focuses on cultural diversity, religion and secularism, migration, sexuality and theories of modernity. His research on religious dynamics in Europe and Africa has appeared, among others, in International Sociology, Sociology of Religion, the Journal of Religion in Africa, Comparative Sociology, and Oxford Development Studies. Together with José Casanova and Irene Becci, he recently edited Topographies of Faith. Religion in Urban Spaces (Leiden: Brill).
