Now on display at the Mauritius Institute, National Museum, Chaussee, Port Louis are two exhibitions on slavery.

On the first floor is 'Lest We Forget: The Triumph Over Slavery'. This exhibition was prepared as a partnership activity by UNESCO and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York, as part of activities to mark the observance of 2004 as International Year for the Commemoration of the Struggle Against Slavery and its Abolition.

And on the ground floor is a more regionally focused display 'The Long March'.

Entrance to the exhibitions is free. Opening Hours: Monday to Friday - 0900 to 1600 hours. Saturday - 0900 to 1200 hours.
