ABOUT THE MOVEMENT

Launched in 2015 to mobilize State Members, the #Unite4Heritage campaign was a response to address the deliberate destruction of cultural heritage by violent extremist groups. Well-received by the international community, the #Unite4Heritage campaign has since become a widely expanding global movement devoted to the engagement of the global audience, with young people as its core demographic.

#Unite4heritage has organized a multilingual “Social Media Newsroom”, where the fundamentals of our movement occur. The creation and sharing of content moves to engage viewership, ensuring that the narrative surrounding cultural pluralism and heritage preservation are widely understood by the global community.

Cultural Expression

Cultural heritage also includes intangible forms such as performance, knowledge and cultural traditions, which must be safeguarded alongside built heritage. It's the diversity of cultural expressions that form the basis of the rich fabric of human civilisation.

Heritage Collections and Illicit Trafficking

Heritage Collections in museums and related institutions offer us a source of beauty, inspiration to critical thinking and bridge cultures and peoples together. Promoting them for intercultural dialogue and protecting them from illicit trafficking and unlawful activities are our shared duty.
