تغني المجتمعات المحلية في منطقة دنيبروبيتروفسك أغاني القوزاق التي تحكي قصصاً عن مآسي الحرب وعن علاقات الجنود القوزاق الشخصية. ويغني المغنون هذه الأغاني التقليدية في ثلاث مجموعات هي كرينيسيا، وبوغوسلافوشكا، وبيرسكوفيت، للمتعة وللمحافظة على صلتهم بالماضي، أي بالأسلاف وتاريخ المجتمع المحلي. ويبلغ الكثير من المغنين، رجالاً ونساء، العقد السابع أو الثامن من العمر وقد أدّوا هذه الأغاني طيلة حياتهم تقريباً. وتتمحور المجموعات الغنائية حول اثنين من المؤدّين الرئيسيين: فالمغني الأولى الذي يعرف كل كلمات الأغنية يفتتح الغناء، ثم ينضم إليه المغني الثاني (بصوت عال) فيتبعه باقي أعضاء المجموعة (بأصوات متوسطة ودنيا). وإذا لم يكن في المجموعة مغنون ذكور، تحل النساء محلهم عبر الغناء بأصوات أكثر عمقاً. ويلتقي المغنون بانتظام عادةً، وقد يؤدون حفلات موسيقية في بعض الأحيان وإن لم يكن أمام الجمهور. وتتناقل العائلات هذا التقليد من الأفراد الأكثر خبرة إلى الأصغر سناً، ولكن استمراريته أصبحت الآن موضع شك بسبب شيخوخة السكان الذين يحملونه وندرة المصادر الأخرى التي يمكن أن تتعلم منها الأجيال الجديدة.
