The purpose of this Contingency Plan document is to prepare the Education Cluster for a more effective response to the education needs during emergencies. This national plan was developed collaboratively by members of the Education Cluster during a two day Contingency Planning workshop held in June 2009 and takes into account lessons learned from previous emergency responses. Following the national level Education Contingency Plan, the District level Education clusters participated in a multi-sectoral District Contingency Planning (DCP) process. This was piloted in 2009 in seven districts.
