Zambian President H.E Edgar Lungu and his Rwandan counterpart H. E Paul Kagame this morning launched the Sustainable Development Goals Center for Africa (SDGC/A) Sub-Regional Center for Southern Africa in Lusaka, Zambia.

President of the Republic of Zambia, Edgar Chagwa Lungu officially commissioned the new Lusaka VNA Medical Warehouse at Medical Stores Limited (MSL).
President Lungu noted that the newly constructed ultra-modern state-of-the-art central warehouse at MSL pointed to Government’s commitment to deliver on improving the quality of life and health of all Zambians without leaving anyone behind.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has called for strengthened partnerships in ensuring that girls have access to the use of ICTs as tools for achieving their individual goals, but also as opportunities to stimulate many girls to become critical thinkers and creators of the technologies which are important to address the most pressing issues faced today.
Participants at a workshop held by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resource (Department of Climate Change and Natural Resources Management) through the BIOFIN Zambia Project Team have recommended to develop an implementation plan for the National Green Finance Policy, which is being proposed for establishment together with Green Bond Guidelines which will be spearheaded by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the listing rules which will be led by the Lusaka Securities exchange (LuSE)
The protection and promotion of human rights and gender equality for people living with HIV, vulnerable populations and key populations, including young key populations, is critical to successful responses to HIV, TB and sexual and reproductive health.
Zambia has signed and ratified a number of international and regional human rights treaties that commit to protecting the rights of all persons, particularly vulnerable populations; Zambia also includes the protection of human rights as a central tenet of its national Constitution. The Constitution provides all persons with the right to equality and non-discrimination, life, privacy, liberty, association and assembly, health, fair labour practices, social protection and freedom from torture or degreated treatment, amongst other things; these rights are important for people in the context of health, human rights and gender equality.

Zambia Human Development Report 2016
The 2016 Zambia Human Development Report (ZHDR) entitled, Industrialisation and Human Development: Poverty Reduction through Wealth and Employment Creation speaks in particular to SDG 9 which aims to promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation.
This Report is intended as just such a contribution to the industrialisation debate in Zambia. It presents quantitative and qualitative data that define Zambia's current place on the industrialisation map. The Report notes that for industrialisation to be effective and sustainable, several other factors must support it.
What we do
UNDP works with the Government and people of Zambia to achieve the vision 2030 , the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the implementation of the 7th National Development Plan.
Our work in Zambia is guided corporately by the UNDP Strategic Plan, the United Nations Sustainable Development Partnership Framework and our Country Programme Document (CPD) 2016 -2021.
Organisationally we are structured around four distinct and yet interlinked programmatic areas, namely, environment and energy, governance and gender, poverty reduction and SDGs; and health systems strengthening for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
