Proposals to improve the regulatory framework in order to stimulate the implementation of adaptation measures to climate change were made public for wide discussion on August 22, 2019 at the Nukus branch of Tashkent Agrarian University during a training seminar on “Expertise and assistance in the development / improvement of the regulatory framework for stimulating the widespread use of well-tested agricultural climate change adaptation measures” organized with the support of UNDP.
From August 19 to 23, a summer school focused on mediation law was held for 40 select students and 6 trainers of free legal clinics at the Tashkent State University of Law (TSUL) and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED).
Mr. Rosenblum’s visit to the Jizzakh inter-district court featured an overview of information publications created to date by the ‘Rule of Partnership in Uzbekistan’ project, and a briefing on the E-SUD system’s functions and features including its automated case distribution, online fees calculator, the electronic issuance of court decisions, the E-SUD dashboard module, and the E-SUD module for registering civil cases.
Within the UNDP/GEF and Ministry of Construction joint project "Market Transformation for Sustainable Rural Housing in Uzbekistan" business training on Marketing was organized in Ferghana region (7 July), Samarkand region (12 July), Bukhara region (18 July), Surkhandarya region (22 July), Khorezm region (29 July) and in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (31 July) for representatives of domestic manufacturers/suppliers of energy efficient (EE) and low carbon (LC) technologies, materials and companies engaged in constructing EE/LC houses in rural areas.
On 26 July 2019, UNDP/GEF and Ministry of Construction project "Market Transformation for Sustainable Rural Housing in Uzbekistan" project organized a workshop on “Design/engineering solutions for low-carbon buildings. Best practices and workable engineering solutions for use of Photovoltaic panels and Solar Water Heaters”, within which international best practices for the development of projects with the introduction of alternative energy have been shared.
From July 25 to 28 a summer school on administrative justice will be held for 30 judges and 30 lawyers at Uzbekistan’s ‘Layner’ mountain resort complex, organized by the ‘Rule of Law Partnership in Uzbekistan’ project as jointly implemented by the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan, USAID and UNDP.
Today, the rural housing sector of Uzbekistan is rapidly developing, which raises the question of transforming it to a more sustainable development pathway that ensures the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This can be achieved through the introduction of energy-efficient and low-carbon technology among the rural population.
