UNFPA Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is Central Asia’s most populous country, and predominantly young. The Government is making major efforts to improve maternal and reproductive health, including access to family planning, but challenges remain to fully upholding reproductive rights. The professional skills of medical personnel, especially in rural areas, also needs further strengthening. Since 1993, UNFPA has focused on promoting reproductive health and rights, advancing national capacities to use population data for development programmes, and supporting efforts to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, especially among vulnerable groups
