UN Women Achievements Report gives a comprehensive overview on the main programmes implemented by UN Women Egypt during 2018 in collaboration with its various partners across the four impact areas: Women’s Political Empowerment (WPE), Women’s Economic Empowerment, Ending Violence against Women (EVAW) and Engaging Men and Boys in Gender Equality. In this report, the UN Secretary-General assesses the status of women in the United Nations system for the period from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2017. Since the previous report, the representation of women in the Professional and higher categories in the United Nations system has increased from 42.8 per cent to 44.2 per cent. The largest increases were registered at the highest levels (Under-Secretary-General and Assistant Secretary-General), which is a direct result of the efforts of the Secretary-General in line with his commitment to reach parity at the highest levels by 2021.

This resource book supports the prioritization and mainstreaming of gender equality issues in UN common programming processes at the country level, in the context of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the 2017 United Nations Development Assistance Framework Guidance. Rather than providing prescriptive guidance, the Resource Book is intended as a practical knowledge tool based on existing guidance combined with field experiences, and as a resource for gender specialists and gender advocates who are responsible for mainstreaming gender into United Nations common programming processes at the country level.
