The Linguistic Society of Papua New Guinea (LSPNG) will organise a conference at the University of PNG in Port Moresby in cooperation with the PNG National Commission for UNESCO in order to celebrate the International Year of Indigenous Languages in 2019.
Since its establishment in 1967, LSPGN has actively engaged in the preservation and promotion of the linguistic diversity in PNG through research, education and advocacy activities in PNG.
Contributing to the global celebration of the International Year for Indigenous Languages, the Conference aims to provide a forum for researchers and policymakers to discuss how best one can maintain, document and promote the linguistic and cultural diversities under the Vision 2050, PNG's national development strategy as well as the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development.
