First Regional Conference of African Ministers on the Implementation of the Kazan Action Plan in Africa
The first Regional Conference of African Ministers on the implementation in Africa of the Kazan Action Plan, organized with the support of the African Union and UNESCO, will gather experts and African Ministers responsible for physical education and sport to develop a regional Action Plan for the implementation of the KAP in Africa, and to establish a sustained multi-stakeholder partnership for leveraging the power of sport.
Following the expiration of the Policy framework for the sustainable development of sport in Africa (2008-2018), the implementation of the Kazan Action Plan represents a unique opportunity to pursue the efforts of developing the African continent and achieving the Agenda 2063 through physical education, physical activity and sport.
The Conference will be organized in two segments: an experts meeting (10-11 September) and a Ministers meeting (12-13 September). The discussion will put an emphasis on quality physical education and the creation of pathways to ensure that qualified teachers and required infrastructure are provided through innovative forms of cooperation.
The experts will develop a regional Action Plan for the implementation of the KAP in Africa, while African Ministers will discuss the adoption of the Action plan and share good practices coming from national initiatives.
