Slam-O-Vision | A global poetry slam competition by UNESCO Creative Cities of Literature
From 29 July to 9 August 2019, slam poets from Creative Cities of Edinburgh (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), Iowa City (United States of America), Heidelberg (Germany), Melbourne (Australia), Nottingham (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), Quebec City (Canada), Tartu (Estonia) and Utrecht (Netherlands) are competing in the first ever Slam-O-Vision.
Slam-O-Vision is a Eurovision inspired showcase and competition engaging poets from Creative Cities of Literature to send in short videos, as examples of their work, to be selected as a representative of their city for the grand title Slam-O-Vision Champion decided at Melbourne Writers Festival.
Slam-O-Vision brings poetry off the page and onto an international stage. It seeks to encourage and develop links between international poets and spoken word performers, and gives emerging artists an international platform to promote their work.
This pilot programme will strengthen future and ongoing international creative collaborations.
