S(k)now | Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio Launches Artist-in-residence Programme

When:
Tue, 01/15/2019

New residents have arrived in Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio in January.

François Lemieux (Toronto, Canada), Constance Hinfray (Linz, Austria), Elise Eeraet (Belgium), and Madhu Das (India) will stay in the city over a period of two months.

François Lemieux and Constance Hinfray were selected through a specific call targeted at artists with strong connections to one of the UNESCO Creative Cities of Media Arts. As part of the residence programme, the invited artists, as well as the selection committee formed of Japanese artists SHIMABUKU, Soichiro Mihara and Takayuki Yamamoto, will give open lectures.

While exchanging with the multinational artists of various fields who settled at Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio, the invited artists will develop their research and creation work based on the theme of Winter, Snow, and the Subarctic, and then graduate the programme by providing a final presentation in a free format. A tutoring system will be implemented to guide young artists through their reflections. Several lectures and the final presentations from the artists will be open to the public. Part of these activities will take place at the newly opened cultural facility Sapporo Community Plaza in downtown area.
