5th Edition of “ReadPL”: Krakow Makes Literature Rhyme with New Technology

When:
Thu, 11/02/2017 to Thu, 11/30/2017

From 2 to 30 November, the Creative City of Krakow (Poland) led by the Krakow Festival Office, and the e-book platform Woblink.com, are organizing for the fifth time “ReadPL”, a unique flagship initiative that combines literature and new technology.

This year’s edition is taking place in 30 cities in Poland, as well as 450 towns where schools have joined the project. Over 7000 posters and e-lending tools allow for the free rental of e-books and audiobooks through a single QR code and the special application created by the platform Woblink.com.

For the first time, 11 other Creative Cities take part in the initiative, namely Barcelona (Spain), Dublin (Ireland), Dunedin (New Zealand), Dundee (U.K.), Edinburgh (U.K.), Lviv (Ukraine), Norwich (U.K.), Nottingham (U.K.), Prague (Czech Republic), Reykjavik (Iceland) and Ulyanovsk (Russian Federation), where the Polish diaspora will have unprecedented access to books in Polish.

“ReadPL” aims are to promote reading and literature, as well as the use of new technologies at the national and international level. Its format allows it to be transported to every nook and cranny of the country, urban and rural areas alike. The international component of the project targets Polish diaspora and helps cities around the globe nurture connections with immigrant communities and provide them with a uniquely mobile literary offer.
