Olive Young, the leading health and beauty brand of CJ group, has initiated a 'Malala Day’ campaign this week from 12-18 July 2019. The campaign involves all Olive Young stores nationwide in Korea and through its official online store, and aims to raise awareness and funds for girls’ education.

CJ Olive Young will issue pink-coloured receipts for the campaign, supporting young girls' bright future just like its bright colour. One pink receipt makes one donation for a UNESCO Malala Fund for Girls' Right to Education project in Viet Nam supporting improved educational environments for indigenous girls.

CJ Olive Young representative said, "The pink receipt stands for girls' bright future. People who purchase products during this campaign week can check their donation with pink receipts and experience what it is like to create shared values. CJ Olive Young will keep working hard to make sure small everyday activities have a collective impact and ensure that sharing is part of our culture."

CJ Olive Young has a resource mobilization target of 100 million Won (about 85,000 USD) for this campaign. Videos of ‘Giang Thi Xoa’, a girl from an ethnic minority group in Viet Nam are on display in all Olive Young stores in Korea. The campaign is also engaging online users through CJ Olive Young’s official Facebook and Instagram page.

CJ Olive Young has been working with UNESCO since 2014 to advance girls’ education in developing countries. Over 1.4 billion Won (about 1,200,000 USD) has been mobilized by CJ Olive Young, through engagement with its customer base of over 20 million.

Malala Day takes places on 12 July, Malala Yousafzai’s birthday. Malala Yousafzai is a 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, renowned worldwide for her efforts to ensure all children can achieve their right to education. The brutal assassination attempt made against Malala gave birth to the UNESCO Malala Fund for Girls’ Right to Education. The fund was established in 2012 to expand girls’ access to quality and gender-responsive education and ensure safe learning environments, especially in countries affected by conflict and disaster.
