VIth Regional Ethics Teachers’ Training Course
The VIth Regional Ethics Teachers’ Training Course will be held in Montevideo, Uruguay, from 7 to 10 October 2019. Organized jointly by UNESCO and Universidad de la República, the activity aims to train bioethics teachers (at the graduate and postgraduate level) in the design of educational programmes and other innovative educational strategies.
Teaching experts will be trained in using methodological tools in bioethics education (deliberative method, problem-solving methodology, use of cases, teaching based on problems, etc.).
The training course will also include introductory topics related to the bioethics agenda, such as the human rights approach, environmental and social issues and building a culture of peace.
This is a unique opportunity for training and exchange of trainers, which will bring together leading international bioethicists around key issues for bioethics education.
UNESCO invites educational institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean, and universities and organizations promoting bioethics education in the region, to support the participation of their teachers. Independent teachers interested in the subject are invited to register directly.
Registration is free of charge. Participants will receive relevant bibliography. Meals will be provided during the seminar hours.
The participants, or their academic institutions must cover travel, accommodation and food (extra course). A committee formed for this purpose will select applicants.
The course will be taught in Spanish only.
