    This guide is a follow-up of the UNESCO consultation on homophobic bullying in educational institutions during 2011-2012. On 16 May 2012, a UNESCO report on homophobic bullying in educational institutions was published. GALE, which is a formal cooperating partner of UNESCO, assisted the consultation process by pointing the way to research, good practices and NGO partners, and by providing input in the publication.     In 2008, sexual and reproductive health (SRH) rights as well as related issues in the context of HIV and human rights were identified as key advocacy issues for the AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern Africa (ARASA).   7. Blame and banishment: the underground HIV epidemic affecting children in Eastern Europe and Central Asia

    This report highlights the issues faced by children living with HIV, adolescents engaged in risky behaviors, pregnant women using drugs, and the more than one million children and young people who live or work on the streets of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region. Marginalized young people are exposed on a daily basis to multiple risks, including drug use, commercial sex and other exploitation and abuse, putting them at higher risk of contracting HIV. The trends are especially troubling, as the region is home to 3.7 million injecting drug users - almost a quarter of the world's total. …

  8. Assessment of Utilization of the HIV Interventions by Sex Workers in Selected Brothels in Bangladesh

    This study aims to examine changes in knowledge, attitude and behavioural practices of the female sex workers (FSWs) for STI and HIV and AIDS prevention and to understand the socio-cultural context for these changes in the selected brothels. It shows that the peer educators were found to be acceptable and credible facilitators to the FSWs in brothels. It shows that FSWs' high knowledge of STIs/HIV/AIDS was not always supported by the skills to negotiate with the clients. Therefore, more life skills training and role-playing exercises will be part of the training program for the FSWs. …

    This guide responds to the low number of SRH-related proposals in Country Coordinated Proposals in previous Global Fund funding rounds, and to the expressed need of Member Associations of the International Planned Parenthood Federation to learn more about the nexus of SRH and HIV and about ways in which to get involved with the Global Fund and its in-country structures.
