Background: As teenagers have easy access to both radio programs and cell phones, the current study used these tools so that young people could anonymously identify questions about sex and other related concerns in the urban environment of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The purpose of this healthcare intervention was to identify and address concerns raised by young people, which are related to sexual health, and which promote youth health. We adapted a U.S. HIV prevention program to address knowledge gaps and cultural pressures that increase the risk of infection in adolescent Ghanaian girls. The theory-based nine-module HIV prevention program combines didactics and games, an interactive computer program about sugar daddies, and tie-and-dye training to demonstrate an economic alternative to transactional sex. The abstinence-based study was conducted in a church-affiliated junior secondary school in Nsawam, Ghana. Of 61 subjects aged 10-14 in the prevention program, over two thirds were very worried about becoming HIV infected. …
HIV prevention messaging has been shown to reduce or delay high-risk sexual behaviors in young men who have sex with men (YMSM). Since the onset of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, a new generation of YMSM has come of age during an evolution in communication modalities. The authors evaluate the impact of a health information intervention implemented through mobile phones, using a clustered randomized control trial augmented by qualitative interviews. The intervention aimed to improve sexual health knowledge and shift individuals towards safer sexual behavior by providing reliable information about sexual health. The novel technology designed by Google and Grameen Technology Center provided automated searches of an advice database on topics requested by users via SMS. It was offered by MTN Uganda at no cost to users.
Curriculum development is one of the most noticeable areas requiring attention in higher education: a limited curriculum integration is cited as a general weakness of institutional responses to HIV and AIDS. In the immediate future, integration of HIV and AIDS into curriculum must be a priority for institutions and funders. This document can be used as a toolkit, a hand-book to successfully integrating HIV and AIDS into the curricula of higher education. It is based on case studies, offering a multidimensional benchmark of interventions that should serve as a model to other institutions.
The objectives were to determine risky sexual behavioural trends and health promotion needs among students, to develop an online HIV/STI prevention programme utilising the NMMU intranet portal. Descriptive data regarding demographics, sexual behaviour, internet usage and the relevance of various health promotion messages were included in an online questionnaire. Participants' attitude towards risk behaviour was also assessed using ten outcome questions rated on a five-point Likert scale. …

This kit aims to provide tools to help schools, school support institutions and LGBT activist organizations to deal with this subject. GALE and its partners have a great interest in working with schools. Technology resources increasingly link professionals working with reproductive health and HIV prevention programmes in developing countries. These same resources -- e-mail, CD-ROMs, listservs, the Internet, radio, and television -- hold great promise for reaching youth as well.

Through games, illustrations, exercises and text, the booklet explores what's going on with a young person's mind, body and emotions. It explains how puberty's changes can affect the way youth related to family and to boys and girls their own age.
The guide provides ideas for training activities which can be used for enabling people to participate more actively in discussion about HIV prevention and making sex safer.
